Addo Elephant Park Situated in a malaria free area just one hour's drive from Port Elizabeth, this finely tuned ecosystem is sanctuary to over 450 elephants, Cape buffalo, a variety of antelope species, as well as the unique flightless dung beetle, found almost exclusively in Addo.
It is also South Africa's first Big 7 game reserve.. As well as the usual Big Five: - rhino, lion, elephant, leopard and buffalo, the park, which extends to the sea and some offshore islands, also offers sightings of southern right whales and (great) white sharks. |

Addo's birding opportunity covers excellent habitat contrast between dense thickets of Spekboom interspersed with open grassy areas and wooded kloofs (particularly in the Zuurberg region).
Wildlife to be spotted in the park include elephants, lions, buffalos, hippos, leopards, hyena, cheetah, black rhino, eland, kudu, warthog, ostrich, red hartesbeest The park is malaria free. |
