2010 Fifa Soccer World Cup in South Africa
From 11th June to 11th July 2010 one of the world's biggest sporting events ill take place in South Africa: The Football World Cup
The preliminary draw for the event will be taking place in Durban on 25th November this year. A total of 200 teams are now playing games in a regional bid to be a team at the world cup. 31 places are available.

Currently a 38,000 seat stadium, a second tier will be added to expand capacity to 48,000 people.

Cape Town: Green Point Stadium
A 70,000 seater stadium is being built in the Greenpoint area of Cape Town. The stadium will only be a short walk from Cape Town city centre, and is due to be completed by 2009.

Durban: Stadium
A new three tiered stadium is being built to carry on the legacy of King's Park. The stadium will hold 70,000 people, and will be completed by 2009. Two large archways will arc 100m over the stadium.

Johannesburg:Ellis Park
Built as a Rugby stadium and host to the final of the 1995 rugby world cup final, Ellis Park will require only minor renovations before the World Cup and will be ready for the Confederations cup in 2009.

Nelspruit: Mbombela
Another new purpose built stadium, this one in Nelspruit, Mpoumalanga, close to Kruger National park one of South Africa's premier tourist destinations. The stadium will have capacity for 46,000 people and will be completed by October 2009.
